The Apartments at Birch Bay Retirement Village are comfortable and private by design, with several styles to choose from. Apartment sizes range from a cozy one bedroom to more spacious residences, all with amenities galore. With its stunning view of the ocean, Birch Bay’s elegant dining room is a great place to relax and enjoy a full menu of daily and weekly specials prepared by some of the Island’s best chefs.

In order to help make your retirement more relaxing, we provide a hair salon on-site, mail and newspaper delivery, weekly housekeeping, and year-round buildings and grounds maintenance.

Life at the Inn includes a variety of cultural, social, and educational events hosted by staff and volunteers. The enriched activities program with scheduled transportation to performances, social events, local theaters, and the Bangor Symphony as well as field trips to the park and local galleries are available to Inn residents.

Personal Care Service Program

Birch Bay Retirement Village is licensed to provide limited assisted living and personal care services to residents in our independent living apartments. This means that residents can continue to live on their own with an extra layer of care and support when needed, without having to select from our round-the-clock residential care options.

These services include RN Services, Case Management, Medication Management & Administration, Foot Care, CNA/PSS Services, Personal Care Assitance, Meal Preparation and Delivery, and much more.

Inside the Birch Bay Library

The Birch Bay Library is a cozy place to curl up to a great book as well as a meeting place to socialize with neighbors.

Thanks to a generosity of residents, board members, future residents and local foundations, Birch Bay was able to renovate their twenty-one-year-old library in 2023.

Generous support included donations from the Hattie A. & Fred C. Lynam Trust, managed by Bar Harbor Banking and Trust, as well as the Stephen & Tabitha King Foundation. The renovated library was thoughtfully designed with colors of the forest and the ocean, pale blues, and greens, as well as prints from local artists on the walls, and walnuts finishes. Caregiver Support Groups and Acadia Senior College lectures are also hosted in this space.

I moved to Birch Bay Village 15 months ago and I have loved every single day of it. I am free of worries of taking care of a house and all the responsibilities that come with it. I enjoy all the amenities and activities provided. I have never had a regret moving here!
