Corona Virus Update – May 10
Dear Residents and Families of Birch Bay Retirement Village,
I hope you all are having a nice week and enjoying the spring weather. We currently have no cases of COVID-19 among our staff and residents.
The Assisted Housing Division of the State of Maine has updated their recommendations to allow for more relaxed restrictions for vaccinated residents and their guests. A full list of our BBRV Campus Safeguards is attached to this email as well as our updated Visitation Guidance.
Our new guidelines are effective May 10, 2021 and a few of the highlights include:
- No limit to numbers in group gatherings of residents.
- Communal dining allowed without masks and no limit on numbers, no social distancing. Visitors are allowed to be guests in the Bay Vista Room ONLY if vaccinated. Proof of vaccination will be required.
- Residents and visitors may visit without masks and without social distancing in their suite/apartment, in cars, or outside. If more than one household is visiting, masks are required.
- Residents can leave the BBRV campus for any purpose.
Over the last couple of months, we have been able to relax some restrictions for Birch Bay residents. Restrictions have been relaxed due to the community’s effort in receiving vaccines. The only way restrictions may be able to be further reduced will be for the greater community to continue getting vaccinated. We encourage you, your friends and families to take advantage of the increased availability of vaccines in our area. The rate of which Mainer’s are vaccinated is the only way we can move to our pre-pandemic lives.
The good weather means more opportunities for off campus travel for our residents with their families or with our Activities team. We encourage you to go out for walks while visiting and enjoy our ¼ mile walking path. If you follow us on Facebook, you will see photos of residents taking drives up Cadillac Mountain and enjoying the carriage roads of Acadia.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Sincerely,
Peter Sullivan, MBA, RN-BC, LRCA, CDP, Executive Director, Birch Bay Retirement Village
